The article discusses the main trends in the development of small and medium-sized enterprises in Russia. The role of small and medium-sized enterprises in the economy and the problems that it faces are identified. It is determined that the key role in the current moment in promoting the development of small and medium-sized businesses is played by state development institutions through the provision of financial and non-financial support.
