Village history is one of the top-priority directions in the modern science of history. Within the frames of village history the most interesting one is the topic of vanished villages. This is so due to both increasing general social interest to province and the possibility of using new informational sources, uncommon for historical science. In particular, these are the data of “oral history” or memories of participants of events. Use of these sources gives a researcher a chance to look at the subject of studies from a different point of view. Studying the vanishing of villages in Kolosovsky district becomes available not only from official point of view, but also from the point of view of locals. The second half of the 20th century was a specific stage, when a large number of villages disappeared from the map of the district. The main reason for such a result was state policy. In 1950-1951 kolkhozes were being increased and due to that several small villages disappeared from the map of the district. The following step, the policy of resettlement of unpromising villages finished the process of forming large villages and farms. But simultaneously this continued the process of vanishing of villages from the maps of the district.
