The article deals with stylistic and genre principles of forming an original artistic model. The material for the analysis is M. Zoshchenko and N. Radlov’s book-album «Funny stories (Thirty happy ideas)». The author analyzes the interaction of graphic and verbal components that helps to produce satirical effects. The author pays special attention to the satirical tradition of popular prints (lubok). The present article is the first part of the research devoted to the study of satirical book-albums as a phenomenon of mass art in the twenties of the XXth century.
