The article offers new theoretical tools for the analysis of contemporary book culture: institutional and neoinstitutional approaches, methodology, analysis and design activities of the book actors in terms of change. Actual problems of development and preservation of book culture as a social institution are indicated. The article offers a promising direction of development of book culture.
