Cognitive bases of manipulative technologies (based on the analysis of the English-language media reflecting the military special operation in Ukraine)

This study is devoted to topical linguocognitive problems in the field of media communication. The subject of the study is the verbal component of the media plane of communication. The author's view on the issues of media communication at the level of a complex interpretation of manipulative political technologies of a cognitive nature based on theoretical and practical approaches is presented. The detailed analysis in the research reflects the speech means of manipulative technologies. The author's definition of media image and media mythologeme is presented. In general, the article presents a new view on the phenomenon of English-language political communication as an environment in which a media image is constructed. The methodology of the research reflects a set of methods of text analysis from political positions, contextual content-semantic analysis of media texts, linguistic and political interpretation of factual data, the combination of which is the basis for a comprehensive study and understanding of specificity of media communication. The results of the study are related to the establishment of an algorithm of manipulative political technologies of a cognitive nature for the programmed formation of public opinion within the framework of modern English-language media communication. The formulated conclusions cover the positions on the specificity of interpretation, generalization and targeted media strategy that can shape public opinion in a programmed way. The results and conclusions of the presented research can be used in communicative theory and practice focusing on the politically targeted functioning vector.
