The article is dedicated to the study of the relationship between hypertension and cognitive functions in middle-aged and elderly patients. Arterial hypertension (AH) is a significant risk factor for cognitive disorders, particularly in the form of isolated systolic arterial hypertension (ISAH), which occurs in 50-75% of elderly individuals with AH. The study involved 159 patients, of whom 91 had ISAH and 68 had systolic-diastolic AH (SDAH). The results showed that 89.9% of patients with ISAH had cognitive impairments, while this figure was only 2.3% in the control group. Patients with ISAH more frequently suffered from anxiety and depression. Achieving the target level of blood pressure was significantly lower in patients with ISAH compared to those with SDAH. The conclusions indicate the need for further research on the impact of ISAH on cognitive functions and adherence to medical recommendations by patients.
