In the article the author focuses his attention on R. Langaker's cognitive grammar, namely, on objective and subjective ideas of meaning, definitions of conceptualization and imagery. Conventional units comprising grammar (semantic, phonological, symbolic) are considered, the functions of the requirements imposed on the content as well as the connection between an event of usage and compositional meaning are pointed out.
