Koivusel’ga. Social transformation of forestry settlement in Russian Karelia (translation from Finnish by Y. M. Kilin)

The article focuses on the development of mobile,post-productivist countryside in Russian Karelia. We analysethe forestry village of Koivuselkä during the last 20 years. Theemergence of mobile society has modernised the socialnetworks and everyday life of the village. People have todayconnections to many places through their work, leisure, andhousing. Forestry work employs mobile labour instead of localinhabitants, and the village is transforming to a place, wherenon-locals spent leisure time. Everyday life of the permanentinhabitants is also divided between multiple places and moremobile than earlier.
