Combination ability of new inbred corn lines created in the Siberian branch of the All-Russian Research Institute of Corn

In order to expand the assortment of domestic corn hybrids with FAO 140-160 adapted for cultivation in Siberia, it is necessary to create the source material - inbred lines with the maximum concentration of economically useful traits. The most significant useful feature is the grain yield of standard moisture in specific agro-climatic conditions, and the combinational ability of a particular line determines its breeding value when creating heterotic hybrids. The article presents the results of studying the general (GCA) and specific (SCA) combinational ability on the basis of “grain yield” of new inbred corn breeding lines selected by the Siberian branch of the All-Russian Research Institute of Corn (VNIIK) using the method of analysis of incomplete irregular crosses. The object of the research was 110 hybrid combinations of corn obtained by crossing 16 new inbred lines created in the Siberian branch of VNIIK with 15 testers of the Research Institute of Corn. The Om 196 line was taken as the standard. The grain yield of the studied hybrids averaged 5.74 t/ha (varied from 2.56 t/ha to 7.96 t/ha). High coefficients of GCA were determined for the lines: Om 26, Om 30, Om 42, Om 52; high values of the SCA - for line variants: Om 30, Om 40, Om 42, Om 44, Om 48, Om 50, Om 55, Ohm 56, Om 57, Om 58, Om 59. The share of the influence of the interaction of maternal and paternal genotypes in the experiment slightly exceeded the share of individual parental genotypes and random factors. The most productive grain yield hybrid combinations in the experiment: RDT 7/05 M × Om 26 (7.33 t/ha), RDT 1/20 M × Om 30 (7.96 t/ha), RDT 1/20 M × Om 42 (7.32 t/ha), RDT 898/14 × Om 60 (7.32 t/ha), RDT 1058/11 C × Om 42 (7.69 t/ha), RDT 1058/11 C × Om 50 (7.28 t/ha), RDT 3103/14 × Om 44 (7.28 t/ha).
