Linguistics of communication as a middle range theory

Some aspects of particular epistemology of the contemporary communication linguistics as a middle range theory are considered; the idea of differentiation between metatheory of communication (communication theory, discourse theory) and communication linguistics as a “middle range theory” is explored. The problem field of communication research – in linguistics – is working out the linguocentric approach to the problem of speech and discourse investigations.
