This scientific paper is devoted to the consideration and analysis of the models of political systems presented in the theories of D. Easton and G. Almond, as well as the comparison of their conceptual provisions with the ideas and principles set forth in the theory of the selectorate, developed by B. B. de Mesquita. The state is a huge and complex organism, an important component of which is the political system, which structurally and functionally determines the characteristics and nature of the distribution of certain goods and resources in society, and also determines the actual vector of the state's development. The phenomenon of the political system has been considered by many scientists and political scientists, however, in the theoretical constructions of different authors there are significant differences that distinguish the theory under consideration from its analogues.
