Competence-based model towards innovative engineering education

The problems of reforming the engineering education in Russia are considered. Two major directions at the author opinion are emphasized. The first consists in conversion to the innovative engineering education system. The second direction is associated with introduction of the competence-based approach, its capabilities for realization of new requirements towards the quality of engineering higher schools undergraduates training.
