Integrated (epidemiological, clinical, social, and cost) assessment of parasuicides as the reasons of hospitalization in multidisciplic hospitals

Parasuicides (suicides attempts or self-injury), or FS are associated with significant morbidities and constitute a major predictor of later suicide. Studying on PS represents one of the most important directions for major public health priority and suicide prevention. Aim of the first international (Russia-Belarus) multicentre study is a multilevel (i.e., epidemiological, clinical, social, and economic) assessment of patients hospitalized in somatic hospitals after PS. Material and methods. A prospective clinical and epidemiological study included 110 inpatients in the 10 city emergency medical centers admitted for PS during the study; 63 patients (57.3%) were female. The mean age of men and women was 34.07 and 36.58 years (standard deviation - 10.07 and 16.23, range-17-62 and 12-74 years) respectively. All patients received a psychosocial assessment during their first days of hospital attendance. The cost analysis (in/Rub. 2016) showed total economic burden (i.e., medical and social costs) of PS in the hospital budget (%) and at the federal level...
