Comprehensive cognitive-oriented psychotherapy for anxiety disorders

In accordance with the methods of evidence-based medicine, a review of current data on the treatment of anxiety spectrum disorders is presented. The epidemiology is briefly outlined and the various drug treatment options for anxiety disorders are discussed, including the use of antidepressants, tranquilizers, atypical antipsychotics, anticonvulsants, and beta-blockers. The results of comparative randomized controlled trials of the effectiveness of these groups of drugs in panic disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, social anxiety disorder and post-traumatic stress disorder are analyzed. Based on the analysis of literature data, clinical guidelines for the treatment of all anxiety disorders have been proposed.
