Ultrasound examination (ultrasound) of the liver is the most affordable and safe, it allows you to diagnose changes characteristic of fatty liver. However, the diagnostic effectiveness of this method is limited due to the lack of specific symptoms. One way to increase the usefulness of ultrasound is to use a quantitative assessment of liver echogenicity. A known method for the quantitative assessment of echogenicity of the liver, based on the determination of hepatorenal index. This method showed good comparability with the results of histological examination of the liver. But the effectiveness of this method has not been proven by examining various groups of patients, including patients with metabolic syndrome and type 2 diabetes.
