The paper is dedicated to the publication of two assemblages containingearly medieval amphorae discovered during rescue and salvage excavations at GoraChirkova-1 of the Temryuk district in the Krasnodar Krai carried out in 2016. Based onthe existing scientific knowledge on chronology of the amphora transport ware discoveredin the assemblages, these amphorae have been dated to the end of the 7th-10th centuries.Using the published vessels as an example, the paper elaborates on possible narrowingof the dating range of the early medieval 'Black Sea coastal area' amphorae by usingthe data on distinctive cultural features of the shape and their linkage to late Romanprototypes.
