Who owns Hans island: territorial dispute between Denmark and Canada

The article gives a brief outline of the history of maritime delimitation between Denmark and Canada in the light of the territorial dispute over the ownership of Hans Island which has been going on for over than 30 years. The author characterizes positions of both countries, including the arguments that are used by the governments of Denmark and Canada. She also discusses two possible ways of solving the dispute: the division of Hans island between Denmark and Canada or the establishment of joint ownership.
