Nickolay Gogol’s anthropology of Art which embodied in the “Dead Souls” is regarded as one of literature source of Chekhov and above all of the software works as the novella “The Steppe”, the first time draws a parallel between the images of Chichikov in “Dead souls” and Egorushka in “The Steppe”, compares the finals of the first volume of “Dead Souls” and Chekhov's stories, identifies key aspects of Chekhov's polemic with Gogol.
