The article is devoted to research of the concept of Russian messianism in interpretation by Peter Dunkan - a representative of the School of Slavonic and East European Studies at University College London (Great Britain). He is the monographer of unique scientific study «Russian messianism: Third Rome, revolution, Communism and after», and covering whole period of the development of Russian messianism from Filofey’s doctrine «Moscow - Third Rome» to messianic ideas in post soviet Russia. His definitions of the phenomenon «Russian messianism», classification of messianic ideas within the range of the state-oriented messianism/the people-oriented messianism are interesting in context of self-identification searches; modern Russian society’s.
