Louis Kriesberg's concept of contemporary social conflict transformation

The article deals with the main ideas and principles of the contemporary conflict transformation approach developed by well-known American sociologist Louis Kriesberg. Particular attention is paid to the basic characteristics of contemporary social conflicts, conflict behaviour, and creation of new social norms and institutions with high level of conflict management. It is proved that the conflict transformation is a central process in the contemporary conflict resolution field. The authors believe that constructive conflict approach is the most effective way for studying the dynamics of modern social conflicts within conflict transformation field.
