The concept of strategic planning in the mining and metallurgical industry

The article substantiates the role of strategic planning in the management system. The differences between strategic management and planning are revealed in the context of understanding that strategic planning acts primarily as a management function focused on the processes of predictive and analytical activities, determining the hierarchy of strategic alternatives, and forming programmatic and targeted sets of actions. The key characteristics of strategic planning and management are presented, according to such comparison criteria as: the main focus is duration, flexibility, participants, result. The features of the mining and metallurgical industry are given, which make it possible to identify the specifics of strategic planning in the industry. The features of the strategic planning system in large mining and metallurgical companies, such as PJSC MMC Norilsk Nickel, PJSC Ural Mining and Metallurgical Company, PJSC Severstal, are highlighted. Scenarios for the development of the mining and metallurgical company PJSC Norilsk Nickel as the most important stage of strategic planning are proposed.
