At the current stage of development of the transport industry, the main goal of transport enterprises is to reduce the costs of transportation activities. This type of expenses prevails in the overall structure, increases over the years and has a significant impact on the cost of transportation. A similar situation has developed in railway transport, however, as part of the structural reform, it was proposed to switch to the model of servicing traction rolling stock by specialized enterprises - service companies. In addition, within the framework of the organization of maintenance and repair of locomotives, managerial work plays a significant role, which in a modern organization should be based on the information technology paradigm of development, as well as on modern approaches to the study of economic business processes. In this regard, new forms of interaction between the subject and the object appear in the economy of the organization, which are implemented through conceptual models, and, as a result, the mechanism for evaluating the effectiveness of the traction business resource of railway transport is being transformed. The purpose of this study is to develop theoretical provisions and develop methodological and conceptual approaches to the organization of maintenance and repair of locomotives in a digital economy in railway transport. In a scientific study, to achieve this goal, methods of analysis and synthesis, grouping and comparison, a descriptive method, as well as the method of induction and deduction, which are based on a systematic approach, as well as indicators of the operational activity of traction rolling stock in the context of organizing a repair production business process, were used. and service. Main results: the importance and effectiveness of the application of the locomotive life cycle contract in the process of organizing maintenance and repair is indicated, and basic options for organizing interaction within the framework of the life cycle contract are proposed. Conclusions: a conceptual model of the organization of maintenance and repair of locomotives is presented, which allows to reduce the unit costs of the locomotive economy, that is, a significant part of the costs of transportation activities of a transport enterprise.
