One of the promising scientific trends in domestic floriculture is the problem of improving the resistance and quality of flower-decorative crops in artificial ecosystems. In connection with the environmental degradation, which develops under the influence of anthropogenic impact, the development of new methodological approaches to the above problem is of great practical importance and acute urgency. The period of active development of floriculture, which began in our country, in the second half of the twentieth century was replaced by the decline, which is associated with economic, managemental and other aspects of the development of this industry. The neglect of the results of the research of Russian scientists, the lack of a close connection between the scientific research and industrial production of flower crops, and the practice of amenity planting in artificial ecosystems should also be taken into consideration. In the conditions of modern urbanization, the development of floriculture is caused by the growing demand of consumers for floral and decorative products, both for individual plots and interiors, and for the greening of new modern complexes on the regional and federal scale. But due to the mentioned problems domestic manufacturers cannot always compete with foreign suppliers. Import of flower-decorative products from abroad, that is 90%, negatively affects not only the economic indicators, but also poses risks to phytosanitary. Consequently, a scientifically grounded approach to improving ecologically safe and economically efficient technologies for growing flower and ornamental crops, taking into account modern energy and resource saving requirements, introducing modern production technologies for planting material, developing and promoting standards for planting material and flower products, updating the issues of phytosanitary monitoring, is the foundation in the revival of domestic floriculture. In the course of long-term research, we developed and presented a conceptual and logical model for improving resistance and quality of flower-decorative crops in artificial ecosystems. The ecological estimation of the use of non-traditional organo-mineral fertilizers (sludge of sewage, vermicompost, ash of buckwheat husks) and biologically active substances including pesticides for increasing the efficiency and competitiveness of domestic floriculture is presented.
