Conceptual foundations of balanced socio-economic development of Russian regions

This article examines the changes in the perception of the theory of regional economics by Western and Russian scientists. The issues of balanced socio-economic development of Russian regions, spatial equilibrium, factors of productive forces and interregional interactions are discussed. Attention is also focused on the relationship between productive and unproductive development, as well as on the harmonization of economic processes in the context of regional isolation. The author emphasizes that the conceptual foundations of balanced regional economic development serve as a scientifically sound basis for understanding the uneven socio-economic development of Russian regions at the present stage. In conclusion, the authors emphasize that cooperation between regions, the creation of links between regions and the federal government, as well as the development of regions as parts of a single economic field and innovation centers to stimulate the national economy open up significant opportunities for further scientific research.
