The digital economy is the economy of the information society. Currently, the steps taken at various levels to realize the benefits of the information society (reducing distortions in the dissemination of information, providing free access to information, cheaper information services, maintaining public attention to important social issues, etc.) are complex. and conflicting social, economic, institutional, ethical, and psychological processes. The level of research into the problems of the formation of the digital economic environment is inadequate to their growing relevance. This is especially true for ensuring competitiveness in the digital environment. Digitalization leads to a qualitative change in economic relations. In the digital environment, competition is undergoing more radical changes. Therefore, it is relevant to study the conceptual issues of forming a digital economic environment and increasing competitiveness. The purpose of the study is to form an economic environment in the context of digitalization and clarify the conceptual provisions for increasing the competitiveness of industries. In the process of research, methods of observation, comparative analysis, abstraction, and logical generalization were used. The results obtained can be used to characterize the economic environment for the application of digital technologies to increase competitiveness in the industry.
