The study of the history of the book trade is important for research in the field of economics, history and culture, including books. This article studies the competition in the book market of the Crimean ASSR in the 1920s. The characteristics of the book market are given, its participants and their relations, the problems of bookselling are described. When analyzing the sources, conclusions are drawn about the assessment of the Crimean book market as low-power, with competitors, among whom a special place was occupied by the Crimean state publishing house focused on the national book. All competitors had disadvantages: low efficiency of book distribution in the village and work with national literature. But the authorities supported the Crimean state publishing House, which led to its securing the status of the main book distribution network of the Crimea.
