The article discusses the main problems of the chemical industry by case study of polymers, dependence of the import from the increase in prices and the demand for large-capacity polymers, the actions focused on reduction of petrochemical products import, advantages of petrochemical production development. The measures aimed at improvement of competitiveness of domestic polymers are considered.
