Introduction: the article was investigated the impact of the constitutional reform carried out in 2020 year on the functioning of public relations related to the embodiment of the idea of a social state, the implementation of social rights and freedoms of a person and citizen in the Russian Federation. The article identifies the main areas of transformation of relations within Russian society in connection with the adoption of amendments to the Constitution of Russia. Materials and methods: the normative basis of the investigation is the constitutional norms and norms of the legislation developing the constitution. The methodological basis was the circular causality method used to identify the transformational processes of the transition of quantitative parameters into the accumulation of qualitative changes in the interaction of many phenomena. Results of the study put forward suggestions to improve the current Russian legislation in terms of implementing the ideas set out in the text of the Russian constitution during the constitutional reform-2020. Findings and conclusions: the conclusion was made about the transformational orientation of constitutional reform-2020 in the relation to Russian society. The inclusion in the text of the 1993 Constitution of Russia of communicative constitutional principles is one of the main directions of supplementing the text of the Constitution of Russia. Communicative constitutional principles as an integral part of the constitutional system characterize only the vector of change in the legal and public space, act as a driver for the transformation of Russian legislation and Russian society. The social sphere has received a tangible driver for development in the direction of implementing the ideas of the social state in Russian legal reality.
