The constitutional crisis in Russia in 1992-1993 and the problem of Transnistria

The article discusses the Transnistrian issue of 19921993 in the context of the constitutional crisis in Russia. The author analyzes the position of the Supreme Soviet of the Russian Federation and the pro-presidential Ministry of Foreign Affairs in relation to a political settlement in Transnistria. The participation of the Transnis-trian special police force "Dniester" in the events related to the Supreme Soviet assault on October 3-4, 1993 is briefly assessed.
