Smuggling as a form of foreign economic criminal activity: new directions of criminal policy

Introduction: the article presents the author's vision on the development of criminal policy in countering smuggling as a form of foreign economic criminal activity; highlights its political, legal and economic features; demonstrates possible directions for its further development. Materials and Methods: the study is based on comparative legal, logical-legal, system-structural methods. The materials of the study are doctrinal and legislative sources affecting issues of countering smuggling. Results: the author highlights legal, social and economic reasons and conditions for the modernization of criminal policy in the field of countering smuggling as a form of foreign economic crime. Discussion and Conclusions: the emergence of new threats emanating from foreign economic crime justifies the development of new directions of criminal policy in the field of countering smuggling. Unfriendly sanctions policy on the part of a number of foreign countries actualizes the direction of ensuring food security of Russia, including criminal law means, which requires the establishment of responsibility for smuggling agricultural products.
