Control of properties of oil-water emulsions in dynamic mode

The review considers the features of the physicochemical properties of water-oil emulsions and their influence on the processes of production, pumping and treatment of oil. The goal is to increase the efficiency and safety of the process of oil production, transportation and treatment. The most serious and widespread complications in oil and gas production processes are the formation of stable high-viscosity water-oil emulsions, which are the reasons for stopping the development of oil and gas reservoirs due to the formation of plugs that are not identified by control devices, in addition, this contributes to a sharp increase in pressure and a decrease in the productivity of wells and pipelines along the pumped liquids, increase the energy loads of pumping units. Analytical work has been carried out to study the properties of water-oil emulsions controlled by instruments and laboratory methods of control in oil and gas production processes. To date, there is no control over the properties of water-based emulsions that affect the hydrodynamic regime of fluid flow. These properties include emulsion viscosity, fluid drag coefficient, and phase inversion phenomena. In order to maintain optimal technological processes in oil and gas production, it is critical to be able to determine and control all the properties of water-oil emulsions in a dynamic mode.
