"Royal Road" as a Route Tourism Brand in Latin America: Some Features and Specifics of Functioning

Tourist routes in today’s tourism and hospitality industry are becoming the special conceptual spaces that create unique tourist experience and impressions by fully immersion of the tourist in history and modern life of people and territory. This is why it is especially important to rethink ancient routes that had civilizational and cultural significance, and which today are the basis for territorial branded tourism products. “Royal roads” are historical routes in Latin America, which were created in the past by empires to manage colonies and dramatical influenced on the economic and cultural development of the territories. The article examines the phenomenon of the "royal road" as a complex cultural tourist route brand of Latin American countries. The study of the different information resources allows us to identify “royal roads” that are currently involved in the tourism industry of individual Latin American countries and to study their potential as branded tourism products. Thus, the studied practices create opportunities for international cooperation among Latin American countries in the fields of science, culture and tourism, and can also become a tool for attracting tourists from Russia.
