It is known that most of the pathological processes occur along with the production of reactive oxygen species and increased free radical oxidation of biosubstrates. This results in activation of the antioxidant system in cells. The glutathione system is an important component of antioxidant protection, which is involved in maintaining biomembranes, detoxification, and antioxidant responses. The biological role of glutathione reductase is to maintain high intracellular levels of reduced glutathione. This study was undertaken to analyze the correlation of glutathione reductase activity in blood serum and tissues of rats. We evaluated glutathione reductase activity in blood serum, liver, brain, heart, and skeletal muscles of rats and calculated the ratios. We employed non-parametric correlation analysis to assess the correlation of glutathione reductase activity in serum and tissues of small experimental animals.
