Correlates of parasuicide of alcohol dependent persons: gender aspect

Gender aspects of sociodemographic and psychopathological correlates of parasuicide of alcohol dependent persons were investigated. It was shown that males and females age 18-39, unemployed, unmarried belong to the risk group of parasuicide. Interpersonal conflict is the main trigger of parasuicide. Acute alcohol intoxication is a proximal risk factor for male and female parasuicide. Only 1/4 of males and 1/3 of females were officially registered at the narcological dispensaries. These data can be useful for prevention of suicidal behavior among alcohol dependent individuals.
