The role of digitalization in the development of oil and gas complex is analyzed in the article. The key positions of the modern oil and gas complex are defined and their characteristics are given, taking into account the development of digital transformation. Leading areas of production that require a digital basis (increase in oil recovery in Russia, utilization of associated petroleum gas and its rational use, optimization of the system of complex use of subsoil, economical and rational use of natural resources, etc.) are identified, and risks associated with the protection of information at the present stage are considered. The concept of the oil and gas complex strategy is presented, which consists of the scheme of interconnected components of the oil and gas complex development strategy, digitalization strategy, strategic human resources management, economic security strategy. The changes, taking place in the modern economy on the basis of digitalization, cause the renewal of approaches to the system of strategic development of the enterprise, industry and the system as a whole, so the author presents a synergetic approach to unite the joint actions of IT, production business, management potential, level of economic security, human resources policy, which will ensure a balanced strategy of the oil and gas complex. This concept of oil and gas complex can function effectively in response to external and internal changes, as well as timely identification of problems and factors that contribute to the weakening of the economic security system of the oil and gas industry and taking into account the requirements of digitalization of the economy.
