Peasant question in early Russian liberalism (mid 1850 - mid 1860-s)

The article examines the programs of early Russian liberals of the mid XIXth century on the peasant question. The author pays special attention to the differences between liberals in their approach to such issues as fate of Russian community and content of redemption transaction. The article is an attempt to explain and interpret the discrepancy of views of the liberals on the peasant problem.
