Forensic diagnostic as an identification and its place in the structure of general criminalistic theory of recognition

The paper explores the notion and the nature of forensic diagnostic. Forensic diagnostic, like any other diagnosis, deals with the identification of the investigated objects’ condition at the moment of the checked event occurred. The task of forensic diagnostic is to recognize an event, phenomenon or process according to their traces in the material setting. The author further examines the objects of forensic diagnostic, he classifies then on diagnosable and diagnostic, diagnosable sought and diagnosable verifiable. The concluding part of article is devoted to the consideration of types of diagnostic researches in forensics.
