Pupillometry is a psychophysiological method for studying pupil reactions. Researchers identify three most important eye reactions from the point of view of psychophysiology: pupil constriction and dilation, blinking and eye movements. The pupil is a round opening in the center of the iris through which light enters the retina. Eye movements are of great interest to psychophysiologists and psychologists, since from this point of view the most important function of eye movements is to maintain a significant (interesting) image for a person in the center of the retina, where the highest visual acuity is maintained. The method of recording eye movements is called electrooculography.
