Criminological characteristics of road safety offences and offences concerning safe operation of vehicles: challenges, features and trends

Introduction: the author considers criminological characteristics of road safety offences and offences concerning safe operation of vehicles as a part of careless crime. Materials and Methods: the normative basis of the study was formed by regulatory acts and by-laws related to the subject of the study, the scientific and theoretical basis of the study was the existing knowledge in the area under consideration. The methodological basis of the study is represented by general scientific methods of cognition, with the help of which the study was carried out: the dialectical method, methods of systemic and comparative analysis, priority was given to particular scientific methods, such as legal, comparative legal, historical and legal, which made it possible to consider phenomena from the point of view of the connection between them, as well as in the dynamism of social relations. Results: within the framework of the presented article, the authors analyzed the statistical indicators of road traffic accidents, considered the criminological characteristics of crimes related to road safety and the safe operation of vehicles, as an integral part of reckless crimes. Discussion and Conclusions: this authors gives their own definition of the concept of "transport crimes", give their own typology of persons committing transport crimes, depending on the accentuation of character.
