The publication is devoted to the topical issue of the effectiveness of prosecutorial supervision and its criminological impact on the state of legality in the procedural activities of the preliminary investigation bodies at the pre-trial stage of criminal proceedings. The authors consider the theoretical and practical aspects of this area of prosecutorial supervision, provide statistics on the results of supervisory activities, identify the most problematic issues and propose scientifically based ways to solve them. The conducted research is not only scientific in nature, but also has important applied significance, allows you to use conclusions and suggestions to increase the efficiency of the considered direction of supervisory activity, as well as in the legislative process. It should be noted that with the appropriate use of the authors’ proposals in practice, a criminologically significant positive effect is expected in the prevention and control of crime.
