Splenomegaly is a pathological condition that is characterized by an enlargement of the spleen. This is not an independent disease, but an important symptom of another ailment. Sometimes splenomegaly can occur simultaneously with an enlarged liver. In this case, they speak of the progression of hepatosplenomegaly. Further, we will examine in detail what kind of disease it is, what causes and symptoms, as well as how to treat splenomegaly in adults. Splenomegaly is an abnormal enlargement of the spleen associated with the occurrence of any pathological process in the body and is not an independent disease. In simple words - this is a symptom, an enlarged spleen. The symptom itself is not dangerous, but in any case, a deep diagnosis is required to identify the causes.
