Criteria for frontier: statement of the problem

This article is raising a problem of a current state of frontier theory applied to the analysis of socialcultural dynamics in Siberia. Difficulties of historiographic frontier model are described. Author brought the attention to the question on definition of frontier’s criteria. On the materials of Siberia-study narratives the group of “objective" characteristics of a frontier complex is revealed.
