The article discusses the key criteria for selecting sites for sector geological and hydrodynamic modeling (GHD modeling) in the development of oil fields, especially in the late stages of operation. The main attention is paid to the analysis of the degree of reserves depletion, the density of mobile oil reserves, geological heterogeneity and the dynamics of water cut as determining factors in planning geological and technical measures, including drilling sidetracks. The importance of an integrated approach to improve the accuracy of forecasting and reduce the risks of ineffective decisions in the further development of fields is emphasized.
