Crisis and suicide: clinical and psychological analysis of autoaggressive behavior

Two hundred and thirty five individuals (average age 35.86±13.05 years, 60.0% women) in the state of evolution or situation crisis who expressed suicidal ideations were examined clinically and psychologically. Such instruments as SCL-90, ISTA, MMPI, questionnaire for assessing mental health and sociocultural questionnaire were used. It was found that a specific content of auto-aggressive manifestations of personality in crisis is determined by psychological characteristics of its structural components - situational component, frustration component and deficit one. It was revealed that individual’s self-aggression is often determined by preceding disharmonious family environment of personality formation with formal system of social roles, emotional deprivation, intra-family aggression, alcohol abuse. The key problem of such person is immaturity of identity boundaries with disturbances in systems of self-perception and interpersonal relations. Suicide risk is increased in crisis situation for such individuals due to rigidity of personality, depressive and anxiety emotional background, impaired social support.
