An important aspect of the modern world conflicts is the crisis of international law, which is based on the failure of world powers to adequately respond to the threats and challenges of the beginning of ХХI century. Westphalian model of international relations falls into final decay. Dissonance between rising global issues and international law rules is one of the main contradictions of the modern world. There was a need to develop new approaches that can be called a preparation for building a neo-Westphalian system. The article comprehensively analyzes the main sources of tension in international law. The research shows that purposeful disregard of the universally recognized principles of international law and the double standard policy of the world’s leading powers are widespread.
