Crisis of religious faith as drama of personal perception in the novel «Obermann» by Senacour

The article considers the problem of losing Christian faith reflected in the novel by Senacour as being and ideological support, which along with the doubt in selfcompromised educational ideals of rational life-building, led to the drama of desperation and uncertainty. One can see the way of spiritual quests of the hero-narrator, who asked himself questions about life and death, manifested objectivity of the world and secret substance of all objects and phenomena. A critical attitude to religious traditions, denying the influence of the church turns into a longing for God as Highest law excluding personal tyranny, informing a person about the meaning of the universe and the significance of life created by the great intention.
