Cross-cultural aspects of posttraumatic stress disorders (literature review)

The authors consider migration problem in a theoretical aspect from the view of sociological and psychological dependence. Related issues are discussed in the diagnostic aspect and modern point of view on the diagnosis “posttraumatic stress disorder” (PTSD) is analyzed in this way in accordance with diagnostic systems ICD-10 and DSM (from DSM-III to DSM-IV-TR). A special attention is paid to the necessity of awareness and understanding of cultural diversity in psychiatry.
