The study analyzes three Russian theses concerning the Crimean Spring of 2014. These theses were written within different scientific fields (political science, ethnography, and Russian history), but they were united by the influence of the Crimean events on the research results. Three common issues are identified: the use of terms and definitions by the defenders of theses, the analysis of the causes and driving forces of the Crimean events. Due to the multidisciplinary nature of the research, the author uses universal comparative and systematic approaches by contrasting the views of PhD students and projecting their opinions on the common politicized background of Russian scientific and journalistic works. The theses analyzed show the dynamics of ethnic and political studies on the Crimean Spring, but they fail to be involved in heated debate between Russian historians and political scientists. The research findings of theses have become a part of fundamental scientific works and contribute to the creation of schools of thought.
