V.E. Meyerhold's Crimean seasons of 1902-1904

Based on the analysis of a set of published documents and by means of the comparative studies method, the article considers a short-term and little-known Crimean period as an initial stage of the creative development of V.E. Meyerhold. The authors came to the conclusion that Meyerhold chose a career of theatre director under the weight of external circumstances. In his early works he, following the productions of the Moscow Art Theatre, began to develop as a director of the new theatrical style.
