A Kuban costume in the context of the “festive fair”

The article analyses the popular Soviet musical movie “Kuban Cossacks" directed by I.A. Pyryev, which became a standard of the “rural comedy" and evoked debates for a long time. The article studies the costume of Kuban Cossacks that is associated with the genre of the movie and its figural culture. The authors review various functions of the costume, its expressive resources in the creation of a cinematic character, and its main kinds and forms.
